On October 6th, Paul Tschammer has been honored for his master thesis with the 1st place in the Mensch-und-Technik Wettbewerb 2023 by an expert jury of the VDI Berlin-Brandenburg. Following a suggestion by the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU), he was also awarded by the VDI for his outstanding degree.

In his final thesis, Paul Tschammer dealt with the design of a highly linear integrated frequency mixer to be used in a medical radar. The thesis was written as part of the iCampµs project in cooperation between the BTU and the Ferdinand-Braun-Institut. The goal was to design an integrated mixer with particularly high linearity to enable a high dynamic range of the radar system. The integrated circuit is now being fabricated on the Ferdinand-Braun-Institut's in-house indium phosphide process. Paul Tschammer is continuing his work as part of a PhD at the Berlin-based Leibniz institute.

Earlier, Paul Tschammer had won 2nd place with his contribution at the Tom Brazil Fellowship Award Student Essay Competition on September 19th at the European Microwave Integrated Circuits Conference 2023 (EuMIC). The award was presented by representatives of the Gallium Arsenide Application Symposium (GAAS) Association; the thematic focus of the essay competition was "Microwaves in supporting global challenges."
