Abstract:

This paper describes the concept of a modularized multiple input multiple output (MIMO) imaging radar in the frequency range of 85 to 95GHz that enables high resolution 3D imaging for space applications. The goal is to track and image a non-cooperative object such as space debris. An optimized MIMO antenna arrangement will be proposed that shows an excellent point spread function (PSF) at typical object distances. Furthermore, information on the MIMO radar system will be provided including X-band direct digital synthesis (DDS), antenna design, integrated radar components and data acquisition.
