Abstract:

This paper aims to develop direct emitting diode laser sources for display applications like automotive backlight displays. The focus is placed on emission wavelength below 630 nm due to an increase in luminance and foremost due to the visibility for red-green color-blind people. We use a macroscopic setup for gain chip evaluation and finally build a miniaturized fiber coupled laser module emitting 10 mW at 619 nm.
