Jointly advancing innovations - Brandenburg Optics Day

FBH news: 20.08.2019

Transfer from science to industry was in the focus of the 3rd Brandenburg Optics Day in Frankfurt/Oder on 19.08.2019. Brandenburg's Minister of Economic Affairs Jörg Steinbach emphasized the importance of optical technologies for the region. Guests from research and industry exchanged their views on the results at the event organized by the Photonics Cluster.

The Ferdinand-Braun-Institut (FBH) presented two application-ready systems: a turnkey laser system for Raman spectroscopy that uses Y-branch dual-wavelength diode lasers. This allows measurements by Shifted Excitation Raman Difference Spectroscopy (SERDS), with which Raman signals can be separated very efficiently from disturbing background signals. The pulse laser system PLS flex can be equipped with diode lasers of different wavelengths and power ranges. Applications include fluorescence spectroscopy, medicine, and mobile LiDAR systems.

"Optics and microelectronics offer a solid basis for future cooperation in the Berlin-Brandenburg region," emphasized Günther Tränkle. "As part of the Lausitz strategy, we are currently linking our activities in microwave and terahertz electronics as well as laser sensor technology to the iCampus being established there.”
