Two leading suppliers in optical technologies close ranks: with retroactive effect from January 1, 2013 TOPTICA Photonics AG from Munich takes over the Berlin-based eagleyard Photonics GmbH. At the leading US laser trade fair "Photonics West", the companies announced that the proven cooperation shall thus be intensified to strategically bundle forces and to ensure further growth. TOPTICA is one of the international premier manufacturers of diode lasers for scientific and industrial high-end applications. eagleyard is world-wide leading in production and marketing of laser diodes with highest spectral performance.

The acquisition is, in addition, an example for successful technology transfer: eagleyard photonics has been spun-off from the Ferdinand-Braun-Institut, Leibniz-Institut für Höchstfrequenztechnik (FBH) in 2002. The Berlin research institution is world-wide leading in research and development of laser diodes with highest output powers, brilliance, and efficiency. In this field, TOPTICA also collaborates with the FBH since many years. Due to the close research cooperation, both companies were able to technologically advance a great variety of technological developments within the last years.
