As of October 1, the director of the Ferdinand-Braun-Institut additionally assumes responsibility for the management of the Leibniz Institute for Crystal Growth (IKZ). Both institutes belong to the Forschungsinstitut Berlin e.V. The position became vacant since Roberto Fornari accepted a call of the university of Parma after ten years of directorship at IKZ. "We are working at full speed to fill the position with a renowned personality from the field of crystal growth as soon as possible", reports Tränkle. As the post as director at the IKZ is associated with a professorship at the Humboldt-Universität, a formal appointment procedure will now be initiated in the first place.
