Spectral broadening of mode-locked semiconductor lasers by resonator-internal pulse shaping

Abstract:

In a modelocked semiconductor laser, resonator-internal phase- and amplitude filters are optimized for maximum spectral bandwidth using an evolutionary algorithm. Modes of operation of the laser emitting pulses with variable dispersion have been found.
