Abstract:

A compact master oscillator power amplifier (MOPA) laser system will be presented, consisting of Y-branch distributed Bragg reflector (DBR) laser and a tapered power amplifier, constructed on a 25 mm × 25 mm conduction cooled laser package. The MOPA-system emits about 5.5 W of output power, and covers a 9.7 nm wavelength tuning range by utilizing a resistor-based micro-heater. Over this tuning range, a power stability of the order of 0.5 % is observed.
