The Ferdinand-Braun-Institut (FBH) is jointly managed by Prof. Dr. Patrick Scheele (Scientific Managing Director) and Dr. Karin-Irene Eiermann (Adminstrative Managing Director). The institute organizes its R&D activities in four research areas: photonics, III-V electronics, III-V technology, and integrated quantum technology.

The labs in these focus areas are dealing with specific device developments - from basic research to the final application. The corresponding departments provide and advance the technical and scientific resources of the institute. FBH also created an active interface between science and industry with its Prototype Engineering Lab, enabling to transfer excellent research results even faster into market-oriented products, processes, and services.
