DBR tapered diode lasers
Several demanding applications such as nonlinear frequency conversion, pumping of laser systems such as femto-second titanium-sapphire lasers, and Raman spectroscopy on heterogeneous targets require laser light sources with sufficiently high optical output power and superior beam quality. At FBH, such light sources are developed based on tapered diode lasers. Diffraction-limited emission of a ridge waveguide is intrinsically coupled into a tapered section for power amplification. Additional wavelength stabilization is obtained by implementing passive DBR gratings. The low dimensions of such DBR tapered diode lasers and their high electro-optical efficiencies enable an integration into small and thus mobile laser systems without sophisticated cooling.
